ABOUT NINETY DEGREES

What is 90 Degrees -

Our organization, which is known as “Ninety Degrees (90D),” is a virtual legal clinic providing pro bono legal services to the marginalized section of the society. It is driven by a core principle: Access to Justice for All. We believe that financial limitations should never be a barrier to legal representation. Our mission is to ensure that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to receive legal support and achieve justice. We are dedicated to offering (legal) assistance to marginalized, vulnerable, and underserved populations.

The sections of the society as enlisted under Section 12 of the Legal Services Authorities Act are entitled for free legal services, they are :

(a) A member of a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe;
(b) A victim of trafficking in human beings or begar as referred to in Article 23 of the Constitution;
(c) A woman or a child;
(d) A mentally ill or otherwise disabled person;
(e) A person under circumstances of undeserved want such as being a victim of a mass disaster, ethnic violence, caste atrocity, flood, drought, earthquake or industrial disaster; or
(f) An industrial workman; or
(g) In custody, including custody in a protective home within the meaning of clause (g) of Section 2 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956(104 of 1956); or in a juvenile home within the meaning of clause(j) of Section 2 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 1986 (53 of 1986); or in a psychiatric hospital or psychiatric nursing home within the meaning of clause (g) of Section 2 of the Mental Health Act, 1987(14 of 1987);or
(h) a person in receipt of annual income less than the amount mentioned in the following schedule (or any other higher amount as may be prescribed by the State Government), if the case is before a Court other than the Supreme Court, and less than Rs 5 Lakh, if the case is before the Supreme Court.

The Income Ceiling Limit has been prescribed u/S 12(h) of the Act for availing free legal services in different States.

MEET OUR TEAM

PROJECT MANAGER -

Aayushee Jevish

Aayushee Jevish, a law graduate from National Law University, Nagpur is dedicated to serving the community through legal aid and support. She founded Ninety Degrees with the mission to provide pro bono legal services to individuals in need, guided by a strong belief in the importance of access to justice for all.
A key focus of Ninety Degrees is to establish virtual legal aid clinics across law schools in India. This initiative aims to connect law students with those requiring legal assistance, creating a collaborative environment where students can collectively help individuals navigate their legal challenges.

Kavya Tyagi

Kavya Tyagi is a law student at Amity Law School, Noida, with a deep-rooted belief in justice and equity. Since her school days she has actively contributed to causes that uplift the unheard and empower the marginalized. She believes society needs a deliberate shift towards fairness, empathy and rightful action.
Through 90 Degrees, she envisions a shift not just in direction, but in perspective and aims to confront the everyday barriers that keep the justice out of reach for so many.

Bhavya Sangal

Bhavya Sangal is a Electrical and Electronic Engineering student at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Passionate about driving social change, Bhavya took the lead in school, organizing year-round volunteering efforts and spearheading multiple initiatives to uplift the underprivileged.
Through her involvement with 90 Degrees, Bhavya hopes to use her position to support those in need, amplify their voices, and help create a more just and equitable society.
